14 Day Travel Passport Application Procedure

* There may also be some Passport Expeditor business in your local area, that can help you to get a passport in one week. You can check around to see if you can find one to help you.

If you do not have a passport, and you are planning to go to China in a short period of time, you can  follow the following steps to get your passport.

1          1)         Call 1-877-487-2778 to schedule an appointment for any agencies around the

country.

2)         Choose option 2 to make an appointment.

3)         Choose of the category of traveling within 14 days

4)         After the appointment is scheduled,  a confirmation No. will be given to you, write down the confirmation No. because you will need it when you go to the passport agency.

5)         You can change the appointment around as long as there are other available appointment time. The appointments are in great demand,  the desirable appointments may not be available, so it is very important to schedule an appointment ASAP once you decide to get a passport.

2          Bring the following to the passport agency:

Proof of need to travel and applying work visa:

1)         Proof of travel: Confirmed Itinerary – Electronic Itinerary is fine, with many travel agencies, you do not need to pay and get the ticket before you get the itinerary, as long as you explain to them you do are waiting for a passport and the visa to set a date for departure.

2)         Print out from the website  of the Chinese consulate in your area on the processing

3)         Write a letter (if needed) stating that the mailing plus visa process time, it takes at least 10 business day and 13 calendar days to get a visa

4)         Bring the signed contract as a back up ( Don’t need to show it unless it is necessary)

Other document:

6)         Picture ID – Driver’s license

7)         2 passport photos

8)         Original birth certificate

9)         Fill out application and Turn in fees in the form of personal checks or money order,

For CA it is Long Form BC

4         If you are not going yourself and have another person hand carry it for you to process the passport, The application need to be hand carried to the  passport agency within 5 days after the application is signed, so it is suggested to make an appointment with the 1-877-487-2778 number, then go to the post office :

Go to post office with the passport office:

1)         Fill out application and pay the fee

2)         Post office will give you a special envelop, put all the material in and seal it.

3)         There may be a  form for you to fill out to give permission to another person to process the passport for you.

4)         Write a letter of authorization, sating that you authorize another person to help you hand carry the passport application.

Give that person a copy of your driver’s license.

5          Please schedule an morning appointment .

Many times, if you request and if your morning appointment is early enough, the agency may get the passport done in the same day!

6          In case the passport agency can not get the passport done in the same day:

then you can either buy a pre-paid and addressed express mail envelope at the passport agency( they typically have some express mail service around).

To be on the safe side,

Before you leave town to go to the passport agency, you may buy a pre-paid express mail envelope at your local post office or UPS, Fed Ex outlet. Even if you do not use it this time, you can use it in the future.

7          You should not be paying more  than $157 and the prepaid express mail envelop if you are going to the passport agency yourself.

8          When you take the passport style pictures, get 3 copies, 2  for passport, 1 for Chinese

work visa.
